Radiologist Dr. Michael Barnidge, Jr. recruited back to Monroe

Monroe, LA . . . August 13, 2013- Monroe native, Dr. Michael Barnidge, Jr., has joined Radiology Associates of Monroe as a Radiologist, practicing primarily in St. Francis Medical Center's facililties in Monroe.


After earning a Biomedical Engineering degree from Louisiana Tech, Dr. Barnidge received his medical degree from LSU Medical Center School of Medicine in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Dr. Barnidge completed both his residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowship in Interventional Radiology with a special interest in Oncology at Texas A&M's Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas.


Dr. Barnidge is board certified by the American Board of Radiology, which is a non-profit, physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology.  He is also a member of the American College of Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America.

Along with the St. Francis Medical Center, Dr. Mike Barraza and Dr. Blake McGehee with Radiology Associates of Monroe have recently enhanced neuroimaging techniques in Ouachita Parish.  The "solitaire extraction technique" is now being used for clot extraction in acute stroke cases.

Radiologist Dr. Meagan Uzee recruited to Monroe

Monroe, LA – Dr. Meagan Uzee, a Winnfield, Louisiana native, has joined Radiology Associates of Monroe, a physician group that provides imaging-related services to Northeast Louisiana. The group provides services for St. Francis Medical Center, Monroe Surgical Hospital, Affinity Clinics, and others in the community.


After earning a Biology degree from Louisiana College, Dr. Uzee received her medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Uzee completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at Texas A&M’s Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas, and a fellowship in Neuroradiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.


Dr. Uzee is board certified by the American Board of Radiology, which is a non-profit, physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology. She is also a member of the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America and American Society of Neuroradiology.

Dr. Uzee’s practice, in addition to general diagnostic radiology, will have an emphasis on diagnostic Neuroradiology.  Her addition to Radiology Associates raises the total of subspecialty trained neuroradiologists within the group to three—along with existing members Dr. Mike Barraza and Dr. Blake McGehee.  The combined training pedigree and experience of these specialty trained physicians provides the area’s best and most comprehensive care within the spectrum of neuro-imaging services.

Neuroradiologist Dr. Blake E. McGehee recruited back to Monroe

Monroe, LA . . . October 21, 2011 – Monroe native Dr. Blake E. McGehee has joined Radiology Associates of Monroe as a Neuroradiologist.

After a microbiology degree from Texas A&M University, Dr. McGehee received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. McGehee completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology, followed by fellowship in Diagnostic Neuroradiology, both at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Dr. McGehee is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and a member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, American College of Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America. His academic interests include pediatric neuroradiology, stroke imaging and functional brain MRI perfusion imaging.

“Our radiologists share in the general and specialty care of patients,” said John Davis, M.D., Chairman of Radiology at St. Francis Medical Center. “They focus on creating a caring, timely, confidential and respectful experience. We are proud to add Dr. McGehee’s level of skill and talent to our team, and to the care of our patients.”

Both outstanding local Ouachita Christian School (OCS) scholars, Dr. McGehee and his wife, Ashleigh Crowe McGehee, have returned to their hometown, where she also received a degree from ULM as a Radiology Technologist.

“Over the years, Radiology Associates has supported the Scholars’ Banquet, encouraging young people to achieve, and both Blake and Ashleigh are perfect examples of this,” Davis said. “We believe the Monroe area has much to offer and we are excited that they have chosen to come back home.”

Along with the St. Francis Medical Center, Radiology Associates of Monroe will continue to offer—and usher in new—advanced neuroimaging techniques in Ouachita Parish. These techniques can aid in the evaluation and treatment of diseases ranging from acute stroke to brain tumors.
